About Cindy Waszak Geary
Cindy Waszak Geary graduated from Hillside High School in 1973. She completed undergraduate and doctoral degrees in psychology and social psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a masters degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University. She worked more than 30 years as a social scientist focused on global health, based in Chapel Hill, N.C., and traveling often to Africa and Asia as part of her job. Now retired from this work, she writes creative non-fiction and photographs the world around her. Her friendship with LaHoma Romocki and the opportunities to speak with people about racial equity are the two most important gifts the publication of this book has given her. She is the mother of two grown children and has one granddaughter. When not writing or taking pictures, she practices yoga, volunteers at the Farm at Penny Lane, and loves to hike in the woods. More information about her current creative projects can be found here.
